LEADING THROUGH CHANGES AND RETAINING TALENTSStaff are the most valuable assets of TWGHs. To upkeep its competitiveness in the labour market, Tung Wah has been continuously executing new initiatives including reviewing of its pay structure, incentive schemes and manpower support, evaluating job duties and titles, enhancing communication channels, actively participating in external recruitment talks and job fairs, organizing staff engagement workshops, knowledge sharing sessions and training activities, developing HR e-Systems, promoting equal opportunity policies and fulfilling Corporate Social Responsibilities by engaging in University placement programmes and setting up HR/IT Executive Trainee Schemes.
MAINTAINING A CARING CULTURE IN FACE OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMICTWGHs treasures its valuable workforce and strives to ensure the provision of a safe and healthy work setting. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, TWGHs has taken various proactive HR initiatives in providing flexible work arrangements to staff. Guidelines on the “Work From Home” arrangement were issued, office hours have been shortened, flexible lunch hour has been arranged; and leaves have been given to staff to facilitate home isolation/compulsory quarantine. Moreover, a half-day release is provided to staff for taking up the Universal Community Testing Programme and the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme during office hour. One extra vaccination leave day is also granted to staff for each dose of vaccine received. Other than producing promotion videos encouraging staff to take the vaccination, to further boost vaccination amongst staff, a cruisecation package lucky draw was organized for staff who had taken two doses of vaccination.
With a view to proactively engaging staff amidst the restrictions of social distancing measures, substantial efforts were made in organizing welfare activities for staff, such as Table Tennis Tournament, Bowling Tournament, Sports Teams Annual Gathering and Staycation Tours to upkeep their morale and enhance their sense of belonging to the Group. Gift boxes containing herbal teas and health products were sent to staff in the annual Thankful/Cheer Day and the use of social media platforms has been maximized to enhance the connection with staff and reinforce the ‘Tung Wah Cares’ culture. Through the YouTube Channel “Tung Wah+”, the Group had live broadcasted staff lucky draws, work-life balance programmes, health maintenance daily exercises demos by professional coaches, Staff Christmas Party and lunch gathering of Tung Wah sports teams. The Tung Wah Staff Relations Production Team had also produced videos of kick-off ceremonies and featured interviews on lifestyle and festive celebration subjects with Members of the Board.
PROMOTING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE AND LEARNING CULTURETWGHs takes a proactive stance to promote work-life balance by organizing an annual Work-Life Balance Month in October filled with well-being workshops, “Lights off on Time” and “Dress Down in Summer” campaigns. Social and recreational activities such as sports tournaments, leisure tours and team building workshops under the theme “Embrace your life, Rejoice in Tung Wah! (擁抱生活．樂在東華)” are organized and the “Employee Assistance Programme”, which is a 24-hour independent counselling hotline service is arranged to provide comprehensive support for staff.
In driving continuous learning in TWGHs, over 1,000 training programmes have been conducted/sponsored (mostly on online platforms) and to upkeep the learning atmosphere, virtual training workshops have been organized for staff to enhance their knowledge, performance, capability and communication skills. The Group has also sponsored Degree and post-degree programmes for staff’s self-development and career advancement.
