Kuehne + Nagel has evolved from a traditional freight forwarder to a leading global provider of innovative and fully integrated supply chain solutions. Focused discussion in individual learning and career development plan also ensure that we continue to engage our people. The practice of regular reviews between employee and manager allows an active link between recognition and reward. This process is then rounded up with panel discussions by Top and Senior Management, allowing us to strengthen our talent pipeline. Our tagline, “Your + Shapes our Future” highlights the importance of people in our business. The four pillars of fostering innovation, connecting and developing people, enabling entrepreneurship and delivering quality and excellence exist at every touch point of our KN’s employee lifecycle.

In talent acquisition, we have robust selection processes, enabling us to focus on getting it right from the start. We also work on our partnerships with local universities, planting the seed of logistics careers by introducing young generation to our industry. Internships are also critical activities in this process.

We believe in preparing for every individual’s success. As such, we have structured induction in place to slowly transition new joiners to the Kuehne + Nagel way of working.

We place strong focus in every individual’s development through the 70:20:10 principle, i.e. 70% on-the-job learning, 20% learning through others and 10% off-the-job learning. Development offerings such as exchange programs, internal and external courses, ensure we have a broad learning palette on offer to cater for all levels of the organization.

Talent identification and development are strategic to our organization’s growth. Every year, we hold assessment centers for Global, Regional and Local Talent Programs. Programs run over a two-year period of development and projects, with the objectives of grooming future leaders and build strong succession pipeline.

To communicate effectively with different levels of the organization, we utilize various channels and tools. Town Hall meetings are standard practice to giving and receiving information. Our collaboration platform, myKN, has been introduced for more than one year, it is our internal networking platform that allows colleagues to connect with one another globally and share best practices.
In terms of Corporate Social Responsibility, our people are passionate and committed to giving back to society. With this intention, we actively come together to contribute our time and effort towards worthy causes. One of the interesting initiatives that Kuehne + Nagel does this year is that we celebrate every colleague’s birthday by planting a tree on behalf. 78,000 trees will be planted in Bautista Chico, Mexico. These trees will protect against soil erosion, capture carbon from the atmosphere and provide habitats for wildlife.

We believe that engaged people equal satisfied customers. A motivated workforce that feels part of the organizational success will always ensure that we deliver our best to the customers. We launched a culture transformation initiative called Care that emphasizes twelve principles to support our employee and customer engagement.
